The Armidale Symphony Orchestra (AOS) will provide the core of the Orchestra to accompany the large choir in Felix Mendelssohn's beautiful setting of Psalm 42, 'As Pants the Hart' as well as many more compositions.

This will be a wonderful weekend of music making where participants start rehersal on the Friday night and give a public performance of their programme in the NEGS auditorium on Sunday March 14 at 2:30pm. Tickets will be available at the door from 1:30pm, dress for both performers and audience will be 'relaxed casual'.

All musicians are Welcome.

Saumarez Homestead is delighted to host a remarkable exhibition of outstanding statewide HSC textile works located in the beautiful 1860's Thomas House within this historic 25 acre National Trust property. The 9 day event will encompass not only the exhibiton itself but textile workshops, artisan stalls, antique costume collections and expert seminars. Jointly sponsored by Armidale Dumaresq Council; TEXTYLE 2010 will delight all those interested in designing with fabrics and prove a perfect complement to your tours amongst the old farm machinery, buildings, Homestead and magnificent grounds. Refreshments and light lunches will be served throughout the day.

This is an annual AFL event held in Armidale, but for the first time it will run over two days. Big prize money is on offer for the winning team, and this year there will be six teams competing, those confirmed are North Coffs harbour, Inverell, Nambucca Heads and the New England Nomads. It will run from 9am to 5 pm on day one, with the final around 1pm Sunday. Over 150 players will compete, plus several officials and spectators will attend, at the picturesque Bellevue Oval at UNE.

This is becoming an annual match, with the NBN Western Bears playing Armidale United. The Newcastle players are semi professional, so Armidale will need to work hard to be competitive. It is a chance for the best players in the area to test their skills, and if they do well, football scouts may link them up to clubs in Newcastle. Match starts 3pm, at Armidale Norths United Oval, eastern end of Erskine Street Saturday 20th March.

Starting time is 8:00am but be there early for the entertainment and warm up.

Proceeds go to the local branch of the SES.

This criterium is into it's seventh year, and caters for any one who is a member of the NSW Cycling Club, to participate. Under 15, under 17 then C B and A Grade races will be held from 9am on Sunday March 21st 2010.

All grades will be first past the post, except A grade, where there will be six teams of five take to the course. Some of the best local riders, along with many visiting ones will be in Armidale for the day.

The 2010 programme begins Tuesday 2nd of February at O'Conner Catholic College Gymnasium. We have dance programmes for all levels of dancers from absolute beginners to those who would like to build and practice on their own ability.

Social Dancers are held every Saturday around the Armidale District.

Beginner Class: Tuesday 7pm - 9pm :- Step by Step instructions on all aspects of dance basis.

Intermediate Class: Wednesday 7pm - 9pm :- Step by step instruction for more intricate dances.

Advanced Class: Thursday 7pm - 9pm :- More complex dance taught.

Cost: $20 per person per term (10 weeks). Private lessons are available at the cost of $5 per person per hour Monday & Friday nights. Weekend lessons by arrangement.

The winning entries in the 2010 WetlandCare Australia National Art and Photography Competition are currently on exhibition at the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre, in Dorrigo National Park. The theme of this exhibition is Wetlands, Biodiversity and Climate Change and features 37 of the top entries including the winners of the open photography, open art and junior categories. The variety of mediums, techniques, subject matter and imagery in the winning works show the diversity of the entrants in the competition; children, adults and teenagers, expressing their concern about the future of our wetlands with their unique art and photography. Situated on the scenic Waterfall Way between Coffs Harbour and Armidale, the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre has the Skywalk, Rainforest Shop, Canopy Caf? and the exhibition space close to rainforest bushwalks and waterfalls, and makes an ideal weekend destination. The Dorrigo Rainforest Centre is open 9am to 4:30 pm seven days a week. Entry to the centre and the exhibition is free.

Hinton; 19 March - 27 June: Works from the Howard Hinton Collection

Permanent Collections: Drawing Inspirationl; 19 March -27 June: The exhibition 'Drawing Inspiration' will invite 10 regional artists to choose works from the permanent collection. They will then work in the gallery space on an artwork inspired by their selection.

Yesterday (Photographs of Armidale past and present; 19 March - 27 June: An exhibition of photographs sourced from the University og New England and Regional Archives depicting life in Armidale from the 1880s.

Cherry Blossoms: From the Hinton Collection; 19 March - 27 June: Howard Hinton spent two years in Japan in the early 1900s, and was fascinated by the country. This exhibition focuses on the numerous Japanese woodcuts in the collection.

Barbara McKay: Over the Mountains and Across the Plains; 19 March - 9 May: Having returned to the Armidale region, Baraba explores the New England landscape and beyond in new drawings and paintings which express her love of the landscape.
